How to Take Care of a Fresh Tattoo
- Keep the bandage on for 2–4 hours (or as advised by your artist).
- Wash hands thoroughly before touching your tattoo to prevent infection.
- Use lukewarm water and mild, fragrance-free soap to gently clean your tattoo. Pat it dry with a clean paper towel; don’t rub.
- Use a tattoo-specific or fragrance-free moisturizer. Apply a thin layer to avoid clogging pores.
- Avoid re-bandaging unless instructed by your artist.
- Don’t expose the tattoo to direct sunlight or soak it in water (no swimming, baths, or hot tubs).
- Opt for soft, breathable fabrics to avoid irritation.
- Clean the tattoo twice a day and keep it moisturized to prevent drying.
- Let scabs and peeling skin fall off naturally.
- If you notice excessive redness, swelling, or pus, consult a doctor.
Repeat these steps daily until the tattoo fully heals (typically 3-4 weeks).
